Thank you for signing and returning our proposed new lease. Unfortunately, you have unilaterally altered the face of the document to create more favorable lease terms for yourself.

We are sorry but we are unable to accept your lease counteroffer and are returning the altered document, along with your check, to you. We will consider your counteroffer as a rejection of our original good-faith offer to renew your lease.

In acknowledgment of your actions, and as a byproduct of the same, this letter shall serve as a formal thirty-day notice of non-renewal of your lease.

Please make arrangements to vacate your apartment at the end of your present lease term. Remember, all moves must be made through the rear doors and stairwells.

If it is necessary for us to show your apartment to any prospective new tenants, we will provide you with the required advance notice.

Your Security Deposit, with any interest or unused rent-credit therefrom, will be refunded to you in accordance with the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance.
